Reference project

Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken, Wildes Morgen

Children and young people curate the exhibition Wildes Morgen. The group exhibition brings together regional and international artistic positions on the question: How do we want our future to be? The project is a cooperation between the cultural office of the state capital Saarbrücken, represented by the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken and the school culture: Initiated by Katharina Ritter, M.A. and co-organised by Lisa Blum, with the primary school Wallenbaum and the school in Rastbachtal, as well as the art mediator Saskia Riedel.

For a tomorrow that we create together.

Two school classes have selected artists with the support of art mediator Saskia Riedel: Mert Akbal, Jeppe Hein, Lene Markusen, Jonas Mayer, Rop van Mierlo and Gamze Yalcin. Here you can see the work by Jeppe Hein "Today I Feel Like" and Gamze Yalcin "How Deep is the Ocean"

In short interviews produced by arcs audio, the young curators talk about the works, the selection process and the topic of the future. Visitors can listen to the students' voices and opinions by scanning QR codes in the exhibition.

The six artistic works were selected by the pupils under the aspect of "How do we wish the future to be?". It was particularly important to the young curators that visitors could become active in the exhibition. The work "Driving Range" by Jonas Mayer invites visitors to linger and play.

arcs audio designed five workshops in which the pupils learnt about the work of curators, the Stadtgalerie as a location and the artists. They set up their own small city gallery in shoe boxes.

In this video, Katharina Ritter (director of the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken) and art mediator Saskia Riedel talk about the project. The video was produced by bunkhouse film.
